Was used to buying Rustoleum for my outdoor varnish needs, and found out this is it! It's now under the name Varathane, which I have used for years. Coated evenly and dried quickly. Easy clean up. I am using this urethane for cement stepping stones that I painted to protect against the weather. My wife and I have several pet birds, and I can't use an oil based paint or finish because the vapor can be toxic to avians. Our OAK finish front door needs a new finish coat, so I ordered this water based product from HD and gave it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised: Finish is smooth and looks just as good as the original polyurethane finish. Great product! First of all I have been refinishing wood for 40 years and happy with the company, I tried the water based. DO NOT DO IT!If refinishing 220 or lower peals the coating right off. I found ONE bubble so popped it and the ENTIRE surface came off.Let's try this on unfinished wood I thought. Even with 60gr sandpaper I could peal it off with my fingers.The product is absolute junk. Use the oil based and spend 5 bucks on brushes. Looks good now I hope it lasts. dries fast. easy to yous. Easy to apply. Dries clear. Easy clean-up. Excellent product. No matter how I apply to my furniture it bubbles and dries with white bubbles.
